I'm an information junkie, just ask those I work with/know/have met once/complete strangers. I can never get enough it seems, though I do have my over-loaded moments, few and far between as they are. Over on the side bar my Delicious link's list is back and is constantly updated - you can also add me to your network if you like.
One thing is for sure, Saturday mornings are a rough one. Not many hours removed from humping it out on the line on a busy Friday night. All you want to do, is not move and drink far more coffee than the human body should allow, and self medicate (not that I condone such things). Plus it's the weekend for some, why not kick back with some Saturday morning reading.
So starting this morning moving forward, Saturday's will before for some reading, maybe some learning while consuming coffee - and hoping the dull ache in your knees and back will fade before you have to head into work and do it all over again (my time in radio spoiled me, I hurt in places I didn't even knew I had.).
All week I'm collecting information, whether I book mark it on Delicious or star it in Google reader. So on Saturdays I will do you a bit of a favor and weed through the crap so you don't have too.
I'd don't have a fancy name for this yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with something (maybe..).
Lets get to the links.
Since I've just got back into the habit of book marking on Delicious (read: yesterday)- I figured I'd let you in on some of the blogs and sites that I read on a daily basis that I highly endorse. Some update daily, some weekly and so on.
- Ideas in Food
Innovative, creative and thought provoking - are the words that sum up Aki & Alex. To describe what they do and right about isn't enough to give them justice. Just. Go. Read.
- Alinea At Home
Carol is cooking her way through the Alinea cookbook. Follow the highs and low's as she tackles one of more involved books out there. Before taking on Chef Achatz and the book, she took on Thomas Keller and cooked her way through the French Laundry Cookbook.
- Line Cook
Richie is the sous chef at Nopa in San Fransico, he blogs, and has a podcast (which I have yet to listen to, shame on me). But he takes you past the "3rd" wall and into the kitchen.
- Anticiplate
I feel a kinship with Kari, she's a former Ballerina turned Chef. A lot like me, she left a career she had done for so long to becoming a stove jockey. Not only will you hear about her adventures in the kitchen - you should check out some of her recipes - top notch in my opinion.
- Gourmet Fury
Formerly "Bouchon for 2", Mel has re-imaged her blog and it's fabulous. Located in the great white north, Mel has been known to take trips and eat her way though Seattle and recently she blogged and ate her way though Paris. She's down to earth, and a great writer.
- Jeff McCarthy
He is hands down one of the best Pastry Chefs in Portland in my opinion. He works at Ten 01 in the Pearl District and even blogs for the restaurant as well. What this guy can do with desserts is just down right crazy good - he also handles all the pastries for Ten 01's sister restaurant Tabla.
